St. Georges Car Hire

St. George's Car Hire Limited was established over 80 years ago by the late George P. Loizou, who pioneered the car rental industry in Cyprus. The company's first vehicle was a Hillman, offered for hire on an hourly basis at a time when cars were a rare sight on the island. Gradually, the business expanded, and by 1974, the fleet had grown to 160 saloon cars, 25 caravans, Land Rovers, dormobiles, and motorbikes. St. George’s Car Hire operated offices across Limassol, Nicosia, Famagusta, Kyrenia, Paphos, and Platres. Unfortunately, the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in July 1974 resulted in the loss of a significant number of vehicles and the closure of the Kyrenia and Famagusta offices, for which the company is still awaiting compensation.
